Women's History Month: Built From the Shoulders of Giants - All Things Dawn

Harriet Tubman did not wait for permission to be powerful. She escaped slavery—and then went back. Again, and again. She led dozens of enslaved people to freedom through the Underground Railroad, navigating danger with strategy, courage, and unshakable faith. During the Civil War, she served as a scout and nurse, becoming the first woman to lead an armed military operation in U.S. history.

She changed how women were viewed—not as fragile figures in the background, but as decisive leaders in the fight for justice. Tubman’s life declared that a woman’s strength is not negotiable. It is divine.

Madam C.J. Walker became the first self-made female millionaire in America. A Black woman born to formerly enslaved parents built a haircare empire that employed thousands of women. She didn’t just create products—she created economic independence.

She shifted the narrative of what women, especially Black women, could build. Ownership. Wealth. Leadership. Philanthropy. She proved that business is not just about profit; it is about power distributed to others.

Maya Angelou transformed pain into poetry and trauma into testimony. Through works like I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, she gave voice to generations of women who had been silenced. Her presence alone redefined dignity.

She showed the world that a woman’s voice is not too loud. It is necessary.

These women did not shrink to survive. They expanded. They structured themselves with discipline, faith, intelligence, and boldness.

All Things Dawn exists in that same spirit. Whether you are a young woman becoming or a seasoned woman rebuilding, you stand on a foundation these giants poured. Structure matters. Character matters. Self-respect matters. Growth is not optional—it is legacy.

Stop. Read. Reflect. Become.

She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.” — Proverbs 31:25
