International Women’s Day is more than a date on the calendar. It is a reminder that women deserve to be acknowledged, celebrated, and respected for the strength they carry, the sacrifices they make, and the impact they leave on the world. Women build families, lead businesses, shape communities, and carry wisdom that often goes unnoticed. Their achievements, efforts, and empowerment should never be treated as ordinary, because the power of a woman has always been one of God’s most beautiful designs.
Too often, women are expected to give, serve, nurture, and lead without receiving proper recognition in return. But a woman’s value is not limited to what she does for others. Her voice matters. Her vision matters. Her work matters. Whether she is leading in the workplace, raising children, starting over, healing from pain, or walking boldly into purpose, she deserves to be honored. International Women’s Day calls us to stop and truly acknowledge the resilience, brilliance, and dignity of women everywhere.
One powerful biblical example is Lydia, a woman whose story reflects wisdom, leadership, and influence. In Acts 16:14-15, the Bible says: “And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us… and when she was baptized, and her household…” Lydia was a businesswoman, a worshipper, and a woman of means. Selling purple cloth was significant, because purple represented wealth and status. Lydia was not only financially capable, but spiritually open and bold enough to respond when God moved in her life. She also opened her home and became a supporter of ministry, showing both leadership and hospitality.
Lydia’s life connects strongly to the women of today. She was enterprising, faithful, discerning, and impactful. She used what she had—her business, her home, her influence—for something greater than herself. That is the picture of so many women now: women building brands, leading homes, encouraging others, serving faithfully, and still standing strong through pressure. Lydia reminds us that a woman can be both successful and surrendered to God, both powerful and humble, both influential and compassionate.
This International Women’s Day, let us celebrate women not as an afterthought, but as a force. Let us honor their accomplishments, appreciate their effort, and uplift their empowerment. Women like Lydia show us that when God moves through a woman, lives change, homes are blessed, and communities are strengthened. A woman’s power is not something to fear or ignore—it is something to recognize, respect, and celebrate.
